Cook the Book @WAHQ

This is the first in an exciting new series of events at WAHQ, where we're reaching for our favourite cookery books, picking out classic recipes and cooking them up in the WA kitchen for all to enjoy. 

Our first book to feature is 'State Bird Provisions'; a restaurant in San Francisco, that uses dim sum style trolleys to serve small plates of finely crafted food; an eclectic mix of flavours influenced by Japanese, Italian and Californian cuisine.

From potato chips with crème fraiche and cured trout roe, to black butter-balsamic figs with Wagon Wheel cheese fondue, to their famous savory pancakes (such as chanterelle with lardo and maple vinegar), and more substantial dishes such as their signature fried quail with stewed onions (the quail being the official state bird of California), they've excited the tastebuds of many a diner, not forgetting of course, their rip-roaring reputation for ice cream sandwiches.

 

We're still working on the menu, but we're thinking along the lines of:

Pancakes with smoked mackerel cream cheese, sweet and sour beets
Garlic bread with burrata
Steak tartare toasts with green garlic & caesar aioli
Smoked trout dip with
Ice cream sandwiches

It's going to be a cracking night, don't miss it!
